According to the relevant data collated, from the perspective of the time axis, the number of imported tractors has been on the rise in recent years. From 2021 to 2024, 732 units, 703 units, 1,089 units and 1,100 units were imported respectively.
Specifically for 2024, based on the data provided by the China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association for the first three quarters, it is estimated that the domestic sales of imported tractors for the whole year will be approximately 150 million US dollars, equivalent to about 1.1 billion yuan, with a trade surplus of about 500 million US dollars, demonstrating the comparative advantage of domestic tractors in the global market.
Among the 150 million US dollars, tractors from the United States (approximately 300 units including wheeled tractors and crawler tractors) are worth about 68 million US dollars, equivalent to approximately 500 million yuan, accounting for 50% of the total US agricultural machinery exports to China in 2024 (1.06 billion yuan). This proportion is quite high. It reflects the significant domestic demand and high dependence on high-horsepower and high-efficiency tractors from the United States.
